One of the dreams of Dr Hai has been to establish a medical university consisting of medical college, dental college, college of nursing and college for para medics for the Muslim community. In this he is joined by his brothers Dr. Hamid Hai a renowned cardiologist whose work on ‘Cardiac Arrythmia’ has been internationally acclaimed and Dr. Mahmood Hai a renowned urologist who has done a pioneering work in ‘Laser Prostectomy”. Both are settled in United States. Other prominent members of the community who have given their blessings for this endeavour are His Eminence Shahzada Shabbir Bhai Noorudin, His Excellency Dr A R Kidwai, Governor of Haryana & former Governor of Bihar and Bengal, Justice N P Singh, retired Judge of Supreme Court of India, renowned educationist Mr Saiyid Hamid, former Vice Chancellor Aligarh Muslim University and Mr Justice S Sarwar Ali, former Chief Justice of Patna High Court.
In order to give concrete shape to his dream, Dr Hai has started a hospital on a plot of land measuring 2.92 acres. which is presently having 120 beds but will ultimately become 500 bed super specialty, multi disciplinary tertiary care hospital. The hospital is generating profit and paying taxes. This hospital is like to get to get into collaboration with Harvard Medical International to set in place internationally accepted protocols.
PREREQUISITES FOR MEDICAL COLLEGE
The prerequisite to set up a medical college is a running 300 bed hospital and 25acres of land within 5 KMs of the hospital as per Medical Council of India.
To set the ball rolling the Government of Bihar was approached for permission to establish a minority medical college in principle as well as allotment of 25 acres of land within 5 kms at a reasonable price in 2003.
The Government of Bihar, has granted permission in December 2006 to establish a minority medical college and has offered 35.659 acres of land for the medical college and other institutions at a price of Rs. 70 crores (Rs. 700 million or $17.5 million.)
At this cost if the money is borrowed from financial institutions on interest, the whole project would become financially unviable.
Hence this appeal for financial assistance through donations or Qarz-e-hasna (Interest free loan) to Hai Medicare Research And Educational Foundation Society India or USA (This is an independent registered charitable organisation) for establishing quality institutions for the muslim community.
