 Moin “Moon” Khan is a walking anthology of hard work, academic excellence, and commitment to people and communities around him.

 Elected as a Trustee of York Township, DuPage County, Illinois, and working full time as a computer Network Administrator, Moon's second job is volunteerism. During his 12 years stay in the Chicagoland area, Moon has served on the board of directors of more than two dozen organizations that include the Asian American Institute (Director), Illinois Ethnic Coalition (Board Member), Asian American Journalists Association (Vice President), Bihar Cultural Association (Founding President), DuPage Chapters of American Cancer Society and United Way (Director), India Development Service (Board Member), Federation of Indian Associations (Secretary, Vice President, President-Elect), Toastmasters International's Cook County Chapter (Vice President, Area Governor), Council of Islamic Organization's Media Relations Committee (Secretary), Asian American Coalition's Media Relations Committee 1994 (Chairman), National Federation of Indian Association's 8th Biennial 1994 Convention (Publicity Committee Chairperson), Islamic Society of North America’s 1997 National Convention’s Media Relations Committee (chairperson), Village of Bloomingdale's Fourth of July Commission (Commissioner), DuPage County Republican Organization (Asian American Liaison) and elected Committeeman of the York Township of the Republican Organizations.

 The lead of a profile published in the Chicago Tribune began with this sentence: "Moin (Moon) Khan is a man with a mission." His mission is to create respect and political empowerment for all ethnic groups.  

Former Community Editor of the India Tribune and Chief Editor of Spotlight Weekly, Moon has anchored the Community News segment of Bharat Darshan, an Indian community’s cable-based TV program.

 A resident of Lombard, husband of Shanu and father of Shaan, Moon assisted in publishing the famous Asian American Journalists Association's Handbook. Later, he assisted in putting out a similar but more comprehensive handbook by the Illinois Ethnic Coalition.

 Founding President of the DuPage Minority Caucus, Moon holds M.A. and M.B.A. degrees along with certifications in computer networking like M.C.S.E. and C.N.A.  

For his community activities, Moon has been widely profiled and quoted in the major newsmedia that include the Chicago Tribune, Chicago Sun-Times, Daily Herald, Daily Southtown, Islamic Horizon, India Tribune, India Abroad, Editor and Publisher, Asian Week, Via Times, Daily Chronicle, Muslim Observer, Pakistan Link, Lombardian, Lombard Spectator, and Hindustan Times. He also appeared on Voice of America, WTTW Channel 11's Chicago Tonight with John Calloway and Phil Ponce, WGN TV, Doordarshan - India's national TV, WGN 720 Radio, WBEZ of NPR, and on almost all local ethnic and mainstream TV channels and radio programs. He was quoted in the Chicago Tribune’s Editorial more than once.

 For his outreach works, Moon has been honored with several awards that include the Society of Daughters of the American Revolution's prestigious Americanism Award, India Tribune's Community Activist Award, Indo-American Democratic Organization's President's Award for Outstanding Volunteer Service, Northern Illinois University's Outstanding Graduate Award, Intercollegiate Asian American Students Association of Chicago's Exemplary Human Services Award, Federation of India Association’s Community Service Award, Bihar Cultural Association’s Dr. Rajendra Prasad Award for Social Services, and Asian American community’s Asian Hall of Fame Award.
